Bay Woods of Annapolis - March 26, 2010

Broadway in Concert presented a new collection of songs on March 26th called "Songs and Dances from the 1940's, Classic Ballet, and your favorite Broadway Musicals" We had a wonderful performance at Bay Woods of Annapolis, Assisted living and retirement home. This was the debut performance of our Jr. Dance company performing "Mister Sandman". The audience was moved by the performances and I know that the performers were touched by the overwhelming positive response to their performance.
Write up about the performance: THE ART SPACE – SONG AND DANCE Upon entering Norair Hall on March 26, I see up by the piano 20 little girls surrounded by middle and older teens – altogether 50 girls and a boy or two anxiously waiting to perform. The little ones wear black leotards and blue tops, senior teens - short black skirts with the blue tops. In the audience are some BayWoodsers and many friends and proud Moms and Dads. The Art Space, Center for the Performing Arts in West Annapolis, was started 2 years ago by Director Priscilla Smith and Assisted by Director Morgan Brubola. The performers seem calm, cool and collected as they await their one hour of songs and dances. After a welcome by Joan Epstein, the show is on. They perform some 18 musical numbers – music of the 1940s. Some selections were from Broadway musicals such as Oh, Johnny, Oh, and Anything Goes. Others were just old favorites such as Don’t Know Why and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. We also had two ballets. Leaving Norair Hall, I heard some comments such as: “What a wonderful show,” “Good choreography,” “ The little girls are adorable and the older ones have lots of talent” and “This show made my day.” By: Ruth Latimer
