Playful parenting is an essential part of happy toddles. This free class is our way of sharing toddle tricks picked up along the parenting path. In this silly rhyme story time, toddler and adult will bond over interactive rhymes, finger plays, sign language and songs. Simple, imaginative stories will be read. Toddlers will find comfort and confidence with familiar ditties and will learn new and original ditties as they come each week. For the toddler, this class is a world of imaginative play, and a chance to develop, explore and share their new linguistic and physical abilities as they learn the interactive rhymes and join in. Research studies have shown that by exposing children to the performing arts we help them to improve their critical thinking skills and develop self confidence. Children naturally respond to music, dance, art and drama. In this class, we will focus on nurturing curiosity, creativity and imagination. Young Children learn primarily through imitation and imagination. We strive to bring wonder and excitement to the child's learning environment which creates an eagerness to excel in other areas of learning as well as the arts later in life. This Class is 1/2 hour Jazz and 1/2 hour Tap. The Jazz technique incorporates various turns, jumps, and leaps that give the dancer a variety of skills that can be utilized in many jazz styles. Through choreography and combinations the
student will gain a knowledge of different styles and forms of jazz technique. Warm up preparation focuses on stretching, flexibility, conditioning, and toning of the body. Progressions across the floor and combinations are the premise of jazz
technique. Performance skills and stage presence are important aspects that will be incorporated into the class.
Tap styles such as Broadway, Street, Hoofing, and Rhythm Tap will be explored in this class. The importance of counting music and distinguishing different rhythms is a valuable aspect of tap technique that is prominent for every other dance form. Basic
sounds will be developed in the beginner level classes and will be further developed for the advanced dancer. Progressions across the floor are necessary for the sound and clarity of tap steps.
Through combination the dancer will learn to put the sound to music.
Girls must wear black leotards, and jazz pants or shorts, boys must wear black shorts/pants and black or white tank or t-shirt. Students will need jazz shoes and tap shoes for this class.

Heavily influenced by the Graham technique with a focus on moving through the space, use of force and energy, as well as finding musicality, the student becomes skilled at the contraction and high release of this dance style. Floor work is a foundation to the center work, and the student learns how to transition from falling to the floor to back on his/her feet and other such movements. Strength is a major component of this technique, and students are instructed to take another dance form to prevent injury and aid in the conditioning process.
